The Texas Hill Country is a prime viewing spot for today's eclipse. It's the heart of the state's wine country, and vineyards are throwing big watch parties.

Leah Derton is with the William Chris Vineyard in the town of Hye. "It's a huge opportunity for us to showcase what we have to offer in the Texas Hill Country from a wine perspective and from a scenery and natural beauty perspective," said Derton. "We've been preparing for this for two years."

Businesses all across the path of totality are holding eclipse promotions. One economic study suggests that, when you add up all the spending by tourists, this event will have a $1.4 billion impact on Texas.
