Two Austin lawyers are petitioning the Texas Medical Board to issue guidance concerning the state's abortion ban. Abortions are allowed in Texas only when a mother's life is at risk. But legislators, doctors, and the state Supreme Court have asked the medical regulatory agency for clarification about the medical exceptions that are allowed. Steve and Amy Bresnen are married Capitol lobbyists who filed the petition on Tuesday. The medical board has 60-days to formally decline the request or start the rulemaking process.
