A death row inmate has a stay of execution from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. The court stayed the execution of William Speer a few hours before he was scheduled to die by lethal injection on Thursday. Speer was sent to death row for murdering a fellow prison inmate in 1997. He was already serving a life sentence for a murder he'd committed when he was 16-years-old. On Tuesday, the Texas parole board denied clemency or a six-month reprieve for Speer. The appeals court issued the stay "pending further order of this Court."
