U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett is calling for the Federal Aviation Administration to step in after several near-misses at the Austin airport. The Austin Democrat wants the federal agency to increase the number of air traffic controllers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the scene of at least three near-misses this year. The most recent was last month, involving a private jet and an F-18 military fighter plane. Doggett says the airport doesn't have enough air traffic controllers to handle its rebounded post-pandemic traffic volume.
