San Antonio Water System officials say the high demand for water and record pumping are responsible for hundreds of water main breaks this summer. On Wednesday, SAWS issued a press release saying the high demand is caused by customers who ignore watering rules. Officials said the ongoing drought and extreme heat are also part of the problem. SAWS had more than 700 water main breaks last month, and expect nearly a thousand this month.
