Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will appear in a Houston criminal courtroom today as a defendant in a felony securities fraud case. Paxton was indicted in 2015 for failing to register as a securities adviser, and for defrauding investors in a Dallas-area tech startup. He recently lost a fight to have the case transferred to his home turf in Collin County. The case is unrelated to Paxton's upcoming impeachment trial in the Senate. Paxton is suspended as he awaits trial on 20 articles of impeachment.
