By order of Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a gag order is now in effect in Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial. Patrick issued the order on Monday, saying people on both sides have made "prejudicial and inflammatory statements" that may influence public opinion. The gag order is intended to prevent any party to or witness in the trial, or any member of the Texas House, from making statements likely to prejudice the trial. Paxton's impeachment trial is scheduled to begin on September 5th.
