Two Senate bills that would lead to an expansion of the state parks system have the preliminary approval of the Texas House. Senate Bill 1648 and Senate Joint Resolution 74 would allow voters to decide whether to create a Centennial Parks Conservation Fund. The fund would spend up to a billion-dollars on more land for new state parks. The two measures need a final vote in the House before heading to Governor Abbott's desk. If Abbott signs them, the issue goes before voters as a constitutional amendment on the November ballot.
