A pair of monkeys stolen from the Dallas Zoo are safely back in their cages. Acting on a tip, Dallas police found the two emperor tamarin monkeys on Tuesday evening in an abandoned home in Lancaster. Assisted by Lancaster police, officers went to the vacant home and found the monkeys in a closet. Police called the zoo to send personnel to the home and pick up the animals. They didn't say what condition the monkeys were in. Zoo employees reported the monkeys stolen on Monday.
The zoo issued the following statement on Tuesday night:
"We are thrilled beyond belief to share that our two emperor tamarin monkeys have been found. DPD located the animals early this evening, and called our team to come secure and transport the tamarins back to the Zoo. They will be evaluated by our veterinarians this evening."
