Officials in Dallas and Austin are declaring monkeypox a public health emergency. The declaration serves to alert the public to the possible danger while putting the cities in line for federal funding. Major cities in Texas have received thousands of doses of monkeypox vaccine and expect thousands more in the weeks ahead, but there's a national shortage of the vaccine. Texas has 780 confirmed cases of monkeypox. There are about 95-hundred cases across in the U.S., more than in any other country. As of Thursday, 95% of the cases were in men who had sex with men.
