Cornyn Has Eye On Senate Leadership Position

U.S. Senator John Cornyn says he'll run for the Senate's GOP leadership role if Minority Leader Mitch McConnell decides to step down. The Texas senator has served as Republican whip for six terms. The 79-year old McConnell has been the GOP's Senate leader since 2006, and says he's not going anywhere. If the Republican caucus elected Cornyn, he would be the first Texan to serve as a Senate party leader since LBJ. Cornyn says the GOP will retake the House in the fall 2022 midterms, but he's not sure about the Senate.
