Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen says the new election integrity law won't affect local elections anytime soon. Gov. Greg Abbott signed the bill into law on Tuesday, but Callanen says it won't go into effect until 91-days after the end of the special session that passed it. A special election to fill a vacant state representative seat is on September 28th, and an election for school board and city positions and state constitutional amendments is on November 2nd. Neither election will be affected by the new law. Callanen says pending federal litigation may delay the law even further.
