The Supreme Court overnight denied a request from Texas abortion providers to freeze a new law in place in the state. The law forbids nearly all abortions after six weeks. The court was five to four in the decision, with Chief Justice John Roberts joining the three liberal justices in the dissent. The move means the law, widely considered the strictest in the U.S., will stay in place - at least for now.
