The search for Austin's next police chief is being narrowed down to three candidates. The finalists are Austin interim chief Joe Chacon, Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Emada Tingirides and Dallas Police Department Assistant Chief Avery L. Moore. Chacon is a 20-year veteran of the Austin Police Department and has been interim chief since March. Moore commands the investigations bureau of the Dallas Police Department, where he has served for more than 30 years. Tingirides has served with the Los Angeles Police Department since 1995, being promoted to deputy chief just last year. Austin is looking to replace former Chief Brian Manley, who retired in March.
