Army Sergeant Indicted In Austin In BLM Protester's Death

An active-duty Army Sergeant is under indictment in connection with the shooting death of an armed Black Lives Matter protester. A Travis County grand jury in Austin returned the murder, deadly conduct, and aggravated assault charges against Sergeant Daniel Perry today.

Perry is accused of opening fire on Garret Foster in downtown Austin last July. His attorneys say the shooting happened in self-defense claiming Foster pointed his rifle at his vehicle. Witnesses have said otherwise. Foster, a libertarian activist in Texas, had told a livestream earlier in the evening he was there providing security for the protesters. Perry is out on bond.
