San Antonio Hospitals Delay Surgeries Because Of Low Blood Supplies

San Antonio-area hospitals are delaying surgeries and other procedures because the blood supply is too low. The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center's donation pavilion is mostly devoid of donors, its bloodmobiles are parked, and its refrigerators hold few units of donated blood. A spokeswoman say the pandemic has been a huge setback, resulting in a thousand fewer blood drives at schools and businesses this year than in 2019.
