San Antonio Opens Cooling Centers During Heat Wave

The City of San Antonio is extending the hours at a number of its cooling centers. Metro Health says adults over age 65 and kids under four years of age are in high-risk categories on summer days with high temperatures. People with existing medical conditions such as heart disease are also at risk, along with those who don't have air conditioning. Metro Health officials say about 30 cooling centers will be available in libraries, community centers, and senior centers around town, and pandemic precautions will be in place.
