10 Dead in Santa Fe High School Shooting

10 others wounded.  Gunman had Molotov cocktails, pipe bombs.

Gunman illegally obtained weapons which were legally owned by his father.

The gunman identified by police as  Dimitrios  Pagourtzis, 17, a student at Santa Fe High School..

Gov. Abbott has ordered flags to be floewn at half staff in honor of the victims of the Santa Fe shooting.

SHERIFF:  Gunman opened the door of an art class during an art class this morning, yelled 'Surprise!' and opened fire.  Officials say 'fewer than ten' people were killed.

LATEST: Santa Fe ISD now says 'possible explosive devices' have been found in the high school. The entire area is now being evacuated.

UPDATE:  Authorities now say there are eight to ten people dead in the shooting at Santa Fe High School south of Houston.  There are adults dead as well.

Two people, both identified as students, are in custody.

President Trump has reacted to the school shooting, saying 'this has gone on too long.'

"Everyone at every level of government must work together to keep our children safe."

UPDATE: STATEMENT FROM SANTA FE ISD:

This morning an incident occurred at the high school involving an active shooter. The situation is active, but has been contained. There have been confirmed injuries. Details will be released as we receive updated information. Law enforcement will continue to secure the building and initiate all emergency management protocols to release and move students to another location. All other campuses are operating under their regular schedules.At this time, students from the high school are being transported by SFISD transportation to the Alamo Gym located at 13306 Highway 6. Parents may reunite with their students at this location.The district will continue to keep you updated as information is available. Safety and communication are our top priorities.



Police say an active shooter at Santa Fe High School near Houston is in custody, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Santa Fe is located in south Harris County between Houston and Galveston.

Officials say the school is still locked down as they try to make sure there is only one shooter.

A 'mass casualty ambulance' and Airlife helicopers have been dispatched to the scene.

There is no confirmation of casualties, although students say there were students wearing bloody bandages.

Many students were praising teachers and fellow students for acting responsibly during the incident.  

"They were keeping me calm," one student said.

The shooting reportedly took place in an art class.
