'Exodus' Starts Busy Period at San Antonio Airport

San Antonio International Airport officials and the USO gathered today to provide coffee and tacos to thousands of military personnel who are flooding into the airport today for the annual 'exodus,' the day personnel at the city's military bases are released to head home for the holidays, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

“It has become a tradition at San Antonio International Airport to send military personnel off with a little holiday cheer,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio. The USO, San Antonio Airport Police and SAT volunteers prepared snacks, breakfast tacos, coffee and offered gift wrapping services to all military personnel."

The Airport says it plans for 'exodus' for months to make sure everything runs smoothly, and good weather, which allowed more flights to leave on time, is a big help today.

Today is big for military personnel, but travel volumes will be picking up for the rest of the week as people travel for the holidays.
