A 23 year old man was killed overnight when he drowned in a pond on tge former Brooks Air Force base, with is now the Brooks mixed use community, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the man and another driver were street racing down Research Plaza Rd wen the victim lost control of his car.
The car skidded down an embankment and into six feet of water in a retention pond.
The car had been underwater for about five minutes before firefighters arrived.. They extracted the driver and a passenger, but the driver was dead on arrival at the hospital.
The other driver sped away.
