Two Hospitalized After Trying to Run Across Busy Roads

Two people were rushed to hospitals in critical condition overnight after they tried to run across darkened stretches of major roads away from crosswalks, only to be hit by vehicles, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

A 40 year old man tried to dart across busy Southwest Military Drive and was hit by a pickup.  He cracked his head on the pavement and was rushed to the hospital with no vital signs.  If he survives, he could face permanent injuries.

About an hour later, a 30 year old woman tried to run across Bandera Road, and she was hit by a car.She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say both of the victims were wearing dark clothing and tried to cross in poorly lit stretches of busy roads.  In both cases a marked crosswalk with a stop light was just a short distance away.Neither driver is expected to face criminal charges.
