U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar Indicted

U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar of Texas has been indicted by the Justice Department. Cuellar and his wife, Imelda, are charged with bribery and money laundering related to their ties with an oil and gas company controlled by Azerbaijan and a bank in Mexico City.

The Texas border Democrat who was once co-chair of the Congressional Azerbaijan Caucus on Friday responded to the reports saying he has done nothing wrong.

Cuellar's office in Laredo was raided in January, 2022 as part of the investigation.

Cuellar represents the Texas 28th Congressional District. The Democratic congressman denied any wrongdoing and vowed to run for re-election for his Texas seat in November.
