SAN ANTONIO--Citizens are hoping save the historic Pecan Valley Golf Club on the city's Southeast side. The course hosted a PGA Championship in 1968 and the Texas open in 1967, 1969, and 1970.

Monday night citizens gathered at Highland Hills elementary school to talk about ways to keep Pecan Valley Golf Club open.

"It's not one that we're ready to kiss goodbye, and we're here to say we still love you Pecan Valley and we're willing to fight for you, " replied Tommy Adkisson, Vice President of Highland Hills Neighborhood Association and Bexar County Commissioner.

CIty Council woman Lettie Ozuna told those in attendance the managing partners of the course could use the land for future development. "It's zoned to have a golf course or apartment complex, " added Ozuna. Ozuna said the course is in a flood plain, and if you build new construction it could create problems.

The President of Foresight Golf, LLC Daniel Pedrotti Jr. told News 4 WOAI the future plans for Pecan Valley Golf Club will be revealed soon. Pedrotti went on to say Foresight Golf was not invited to Monday nights meeting, but would have gladly attended to answer any and all questions.

Pedrotti adds the flood problem will be addressed. "We are a company that has been characterized by our customers as a hard working, honest Southside business that conducts itself with integrity, " added Pedrotti.
