PGA of America -- PGA GRAND SLAM OF GOLF,
Port Royal Golf Club, Southampton Parish, Bermuda -- This year's four major
champions get together on Tuesday and Wednesday for the 36-hole PGA Grand Slam
of Golf.
Masters winner Angel Cabrera will be joined at Port Royal Golf Club by U.S.
Open champion Lucas Glover, British Open champ Stewart Cink and PGA
Championship winner Y.E. Yang.
This is the first time since 2004 that all four major champions are competing
in this event. Between duel winners and Tiger Woods missing last year due to
injury, it has been five years since the season's major winners all played the
Grand Slam.
Jim Furyk won last year in a playoff over Padraig Harrington. Furyk got into
the event as an alternate since Woods was unable to play after knee surgery.
With the victory, Furyk joined Woods, Greg Norman and Andy North as the only
multiple winners of this event.
Of this year's field, only Cabrera has competed in this event before. In 2007,
Cabrera birdied the third playoff hole to defeat British Open champion Todd
Hamilton.
The event started in 1979, but didn't become a yearly outing until 1988 and
has been 36 holes of stroke play since 2000. It had been a match-play event
and originally was only 18 holes.
TNT has three hours of coverage on Tuesday and four hours of action on
Wednesday.
PGA TOUR
FRYS.COM OPEN, Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course), Scottsdale, Arizona - This
week is the third of five Fall Series events for the PGA Tour, the Frys.com
Open.
With his PGA Tour card on the line, Cameron Beckman parred the second playoff
hole last year to earn his second PGA Tour win. The victory also secured
Beckman's tour card for two more years, which was big because he entered the
event ranked 176th on the money list.
Last week's winner, Martin Laird, kept his tour card with the win as well.
Laird started last week's tournament ranked 134th on the money list. Only the
top 125 keep their tour cards for next season.
With three events left in the fall series, there are still many big names
trying to keep their tour cards for next year. Among those that could lose
their PGA Tour cards for 2010 include Todd Hamilton, Chris Riley, Stuart
Appleby, Tim Herron, Tommy Armour III, Corey Pavin and Jason Gore.

The PGA Tour heads to Mississippi next week for the Viking Classic, where Will
MacKenzie won last season.
EUROPEAN TOUR
CASTELLO MASTERS COSTA AZAHAR, Club de Campo del Mediterraneo, Castellon,
Spain -- Sergio Garcia was one of eight players to post four rounds in the 60s
last year, but his four rounds were the best to win the Castello Masters Costa
Azahar.
For Garcia, it was his seventh victory on the European Tour, but first since
2005. The Spaniard closed with a four-under 67 to win by three strokes over
Peter Hedblom.
Garcia knows Club de Campo better than any other tour player since he grew up
playing the course and his father is the club's head professional.
"Winning the Castello Masters was one of the most emotional moments of my
career," Garcia said. "It was a dream come true and a very special victory in
front of all my family, friends and members of the club where I have grown up
as a player and as a person."
Martin Kaymer returns to action for the first time since the PGA Championship
and will be joined in the field by Masters champion Angel Cabrera. The
remainder of the top 10 on the Order of Merit are not playing this week. It
will be Cabrera's first event on the European Tour since the British Open.
Golf Channel has three hours of coverage all four days.
There are two events next week on the European Tour. The Volvo World Match
Play Championship returns after a one-year break. Ernie Els won the title in
2007. The remainder of the tour will be in Asia for the Barclays Singapore
Open, where Jeev Milkha Singh won last year.
NATIONWIDE TOUR
NATIONWIDE TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, Daniel Island Club (Ralston Creek Course),
Charleston, South Carolina -- The top-60 players on the Nationwide Tour money
list are eligible to head to the Ralston Creek Course at Daniel Island Club
this week for the Nationwide Tour Championship.
Michael Sim, a three-time winner this year, heads the money list with a tour
record of $536,142. Chad Collins, Blake Adams and Derek Lamely could all win
the money title with a victory and a bad finish by Sim this week.
Matt Bettencourt claimed the title last year as he closed with a 69 to hold
off Jeff Klauk by a single stroke. Bettencourt not only claimed the title, but
he also secured his PGA Tour card for the 2009 season.
The top 25 on the money list after this event will move on to the PGA Tour
next season.
Garrett Willis, ninth on the money list, and Darron Stiles, No. 60 on the
money list, are not scheduled to play this week.
Golf Channel has coverage from 2:00-4:30 p.m. (et) for all four rounds. This
is the final Nationwide Tour event of 2009.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
AT&T CHAMPIONSHIP, Oak Hills Country Club, San Antonio, Texas -- John Cook
successfully defended his title last year thanks in part to an eight-under 63
in the second round.
Cook finished three clear of Keith Fergus to finish off his second victory at
this event and second on the Champions Tour. After an early bogey, Cook didn't
take the lead for good until making birdie on the 10th.
He is coming off a win last week at the Administaff Small Business Classic.
Cook has posted 10 top-10 finishes in 21 starts this season.
Dating back to the 2003, this event has served as the final tune-up for the
Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
Golf Channel will air two hours of action all three days starting at 7:30 p.m.

Bean won last year.
