Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - New York Islanders head coach Jack Capuano will be ready to return to the bench after undergoing surgery to treat a kidney stone.

In a release on Sunday, the club said that Capuano had the procedure on Saturday night and was released on Sunday morning. He is expected to return to his post for Monday afternoon's contest at Nassau Coliseum with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Capuano was a late scratch due to what was termed "medical reasons" just minutes before his club's season and home opener against the New Jersey Devils. Assistants Doug Weight and Brent Thompson ran things in a 2-1 loss.
