Pirates acquire Zach Stewart from Red Sox

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired pitcher Zach Stewart from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later.

Stewart began the 2012 season as a member of the Chicago White Sox before being traded to Boston on June 24 along with infielder/outfielder Brent Lillibridge in exchange for infielder Kevin Youkilis.

The 26-year-old went 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA in 18 games (one start) for Chicago. Stewart made two starts with the Red Sox on August 29 and September 30, going 0-2 with a 22.24 ERA.

In 33 career games (14 starts) with the Blue Jays, White Sox and Red Sox, Stewart is 3-10 with a 6.82 ERA.
