EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Trial is to start Monday in federal court in El Paso for an El Paso County state judge accused of offering to trade sex and cash for help with felony cases.

State District Judge Manuel Barraza faces four counts, including mail fraud, wire fraud and lying to a federal agent. He was arrested in April and accused of taking cash bribes and asking for sex from defendants, including an undercover FBI agent.

Barraza has pleaded not guilty. He was elected in November and took office in January. He has been free on bond since his arrest.
