SAN ANTONIO -- Texas voters made their way to the polls Tuesday to decide who will represent the Democrats and the Republican in the November election.
Perhaps the most hard-fought race was the race between Republican gubernatorial candidates Governor Rick Perry, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Huthchison, and party activist Debra Medina. While many have predicted Perry or Hutchison will win the race, some say Medina could pull in enough votes to force an April runoff between the top two finishers.
Another race to watch in Texas is for eight seats on the Texas Board of Education. Associated Press reports that board members' "decisions about curriculum standards in Texas have significant impact on the content of textbooks marketed nationwide." The election is also the first since the board tacked the subject of evolution.

There are also 14 Texas congressmen who have challengers from their own party and many more state and local races.
