SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Zoo debuted their new elephant Friday. The Asian Elephant's name is Boo. She arrived five weeks ago and trainers say she's been playful with the other elephants. Once the animals get more comfortable with one another, trainers will let them out in the big yard where there's more room to play.

all these comments from people living in San Antonio about how horrible the zoo is...THEN WRITE TO YOUR MAYOR, COUNCILMAN and the USDA (united states dept. of Agriculture) who is responsible for the welfare of zoo animals- NOT DOING THEIR JOB - JOIN "IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS" "PETA" ORGANIZATIONS TRYING TO MAKE IT BETTER...your mayor and councilmen and the director of your zoo HAVE TURNED A BLIND EYE...THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE ANIMALS.....There is a PROTEST SCHEDULED JUNE 19TH.....JOIN THEM....PLEASE...

This is one of the sorriest excuses for a zoo that I have ever seen. 2 jaguars in a tiny concrete enclosure not big enough for ONE jag, lions pacing on concrete, the elephant enclosure is way too small. Snow leopards on concrete behind glass (a few yrs. ago)--it makes me sick. I'm not against zoos and have had the good fortune to go to many that are fantastic, including San Diego and Audubon in New Orleans. This one is an abomination.

Close all the zoos down. Its cruel to cage animals. If you want to see what an animal looks like, go on the web.

I have to agree, the zoo spends too much money and time creating prefab asthetic environments to please the public rather than looking after the animals themselves. It is so sad to see the lone giraffe and zebra and the miserable bear and elephants, when you can go up the road to the Wildlife Ranch and see the animals there happy and living in great environments.

The elephants are great, but I hope they do something about their sad looking exhibit.

Yep. Not enough room for one elephant let alone several.
