SAN ANTONIO -- A construction worker was injured in an accident on the Far North Side Tuesday morning.

The accident happened around 8:20 a.m. at a construction site near Loop 1604 and Northwest Military Highway. News 4 WOAI was told the worker fell down a 20-foot-deep manhole.

A paramedic and a San Antonio Fire Department Heavy Rescue worker were able to reach the man and provide medical care while he was still inside the hole. Crews were then able to pull the worker to safety.

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital with knee and ankle injuries.

No one gets injured from the fall. The problem is always when you hit the bottom of the hole.
