SAN ANTONIO - Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found on the East Side Tuesday.
Police say a man was riding a bike north along Roland when he spotted the woman's body in a grassy area near Terron Road shortly before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. According to investigators, the woman was found lying face-up with no clothes on. They also said she had what appeared to be bruising around her throat area and scratches on her upper inner thighs.
Detectives say the woman’s body probably hadn’t been there very long. A police report described the unidentified woman as white, between 20 and 30 years of age, 5' 0" tall, 100 pounds, with red or auburn hair. The Medical Examiner’s office is working to identify her.
Neighbors say it’s a quiet area and they keep homes and yards locked up tight so the discovery is shocking.
The area is just past where Roland Avenue is closed for construction over Salado Creek. Normally, it runs straight through to I-10, but now that it’s closed, there’s a lot less traffic in the area.
