SAN ANTONIO – Police are looking for a man who they believe stabbed his girlfriend inside her home while her kids were sound asleep.

It happened early Sunday morning at a home on Dorie Street near the intersection of I-10 and Martin Luther King on the east side.

Officers say there were three kids inside the house when it happened.

They say 37-year-old Susan Garcia was stabbed in the lower back next to her kidney by her 25-year-old boyfriend.

Garcia’s kids woke up when they heard her screaming in pain and called 911.

But by that time, the boyfriend had run away from the house.

Police searched for him by air with a helicopter and on foot with the help of dogs, but he’s still at large.

Meanwhile, paramedics determined Garcia has life-threatening injuries and she’s recovering at a local hospital. Her children are now staying with relatives.
