SAN ANTONIO -- Investigators are trying to figure out who shot a woman who died shortly after she showed up at a friend's East Side apartment early Wednesday.
Police said the 46-year-old woman, who used to live at the complex, knocked on the door of her friend's apartment in the 4400 block of Hein Road around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday. She told the friend she'd been shot and then immediately collapsed.
The woman had been shot in the torso and died while EMS crews were working on her at the scene.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus said no one in the area reported hearing gunshots, and investigators are still trying to determine exactly what happened.
