HOUSTON - A woman is charged with child endangerment after she apparently admitted to leaving her three-month-old baby boy in a car in a bar parking lot. This all while she was inside drinking at 3:30 in the morning.

A bar patron told police that Amy Cooney, 31, talked about her baby being in a car this past weekend. That customer asked to see the baby, and then grabbed the infant and turned him over to police.

Cooney was arrested and taken to jail.

The child was unharmed and eventually released into the care of its grandmother.

C'mon, what was she supposed to do? Take the child INTO the smoke filled bar?

Don't be too hard on her. I'm sure she wasn't going to drive home after drinking all night. She would have got a ride home with someone who hung around the bar until 3:30 am without drinking and would have had the good judgement to leave her baby in the car till the next morning where it would be safe.

One last thought: CPS should also check the child for fetal alchohol syndrome. Betting this kid is a prime candidate with mama hitting the bars. And that means the taxpayers will be paying for this kid's care for years to come.

I do hope that CPS takes the child away from the family altogether. Is Grandma capable of taking care of this child? I just pray that this brain dead mother does not procreate any further. The gene pool in her case is shallow enough.

She needs to have that child taken from her, a hysterectomy (so she doesn't reproduce anymore), and charged with child endangerment. Pathetic excuse for a human being. :/ Thank God that customer rescused this infant before something tragic happened.

This child needs to be taken away, she admitted that she had left the baby previously in the car and this time, she was caught. No telling how many times she got away with it before. Good for the customer that stepped in.
