SAN ANTONIO -- A woman in a wheelchair was hit by a VIA bus Thursday evening on St. Mary's St., near Cesar Chavez.
The woman's daughter said she was walking a few feet ahead of her mother on the sidewalk when she suddenly heard a crash.
"I turned around and her chair was in the street and she was sprawled out in the street. It was terrible," her daughter Joan Leek said. "I was praying she was alive."
The woman may have suffered back and shoulder injuries, but police said she should be okay. Leek said her mother's motorized wheelchair was acting up before the accident and that may have caused her to drive off the sidewalk into the street.
Police and VIA are investigating.
