SAN ANTONIO -- A woman was seriously injured when her car collided with a truck on the South Side Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Southeast Military Drive, between Mission Parkway and South Presa. Witnesses say the woman, who is in her 40's, was traveling west on Military Drive at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic. They told police she lost control of her car after driving over some railroad tracks, and her car went over the median and crashed into a truck traveling east on Military Drive.

The woman's car ended up in some nearby bushes. She was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

When I was younger, Maryland had a slogan that was posted all over the place, "Arrive Alive." Sure, I ridiculed that almost every time I saw the sign, but some 20 years later, I still think about it. GSDlady, you hit the nail on the head.

Ironic isn't it--travelling fast to get somewhere "important" that you don't get to because you're involved in an accident that probably wouldn't have happened if you hadn't been driving so fast! Oh yeah, I forgot, on a normal day your speed gets you there a minute sooner and you get the closer parking space...give me a brake! Pun intended!
