SAN ANTONIO- A woman is sent to the hospital after what she describes as a vicious attack by two pit bulls. It happened Monday morning when she was dropping off her child at her aunt's house on the West side near Old US Highway 90.

“She's thin and I thought they were going to pull her down and I thought oh my God, they're going to kill her,” explained Alma Factor.

Alma watched helplessly as her niece, 31- year old Suzanne Aldape was being attacked by two dogs in the front yard. Suzanne had just driven up to the home to drop off her young daughter for the day. When she got out of the car the pit bulls surrounded her, lunging towards her.

Suzanne Aldape said, “I was hitting one of them with the umbrella and I hit it and it kind of backed off but then out of nowhere the other one bit me”.

Somehow Suzanne managed to get away, but by then she was bleeding from several deep bite wounds. Her family called police for help as the dogs tried to go after other people as well.

“The dog had jumped over my neighbor’s yard to attack him, but he got on top of his truck,” said Alma.

When an officer arrived one of the dogs tried to attack him so he shot the dog dead before the animal could harm anyone else. The other dog was picked up and is in the care of Animal Care Services.

As for the victim, she said this was not just a dog bite, but a horrible attack.

“Uh, yeah, it was an attack, an ugly attack, stupid dogs, they're vicious, I don't blame the dogs, I blame the owners”.

The woman was treated for her injuries and is expected to be OK.
The dog’s owner has been cited for six violations.

Hope the Victim makes a full & speedy recovery, and Thank God, they didn't get the child. How Many of these ongoing pit bull Attacks, on Innocent People, is this City Going to Tolerate, before they take some responsible official Action to protect the Citizens, including children.. Pit bull ownership should be officially Banned.. Perhaps, grandfathering in responible current owners, with proof of spay & neutering.. Make it a Policy that No new Pit Bull ownership is welcome in city limits, etc. imo, Our City Officials need to get a backbone, and stop pandering to the bleeding heart pit bull lobby..

I wish something would be done to protect the city from pitbulls! I too was attacked the other day, and I completely understand what she means about the difference between a dog bite and a vicious attack. At least the police cared to help her, which I am glad to hear. The police officer who responded to my attack sided with the unrestrained dog owners who allowed their dog to attack me on my own front porch. Lucky for me ACS wasn't as tolerant of the pit being unrestrained and permitted to attack and they helped me get justice.

Pits are evil. The breed should be eliminated from existence.

I believe it is quite clear that this recent spate of dog attacks has it's roots in some outside sinister and malevolent force. Are we to believe that the local population of Pit Bulls has all gone wild for no reason at all? I believe not. I think it is probable that some central authority is provoking the actions of these dogs and that authority is no other than Satan. It is his people who own these dogs. I believe we might turn the tables on them and use these dogs to identify the Devil's people, that they might be aprehended. Once they have been disarmed of their dogs, they can be brought to Jesus, thus denying the Devil his thralls. We could rid ourselves of the wicked and their dogs with one swoop, two birds having been killed with one stone, as they say.

A Cane Corso(breed of dog)mauled a waitress on Miami Beach's famously dog-friendly Lincoln Road. "Police say a cane corso bit Amy Calandrella in the face as she bent down with a bowl of water. A Miami-Dade County Animal Services report says Calandrella received more than 300 stitches [seven hours of surgery]. No charges were filed. The dog was allowed to remain with its owner because dogs are allowed on Lincoln Road. Restaurants along the popular pedestrian thoroughfare regularly offer bowls of water to dogs seated with their owners." Lots of fault to spread around on this one, except not to the dog due to the circumstance in which it was placed. Just making a point. Now I'm done.

ey mang, you stated: "data shows that pit bulls commit the vast majority of off-property attacks that result in death." Isn't that the owner's responsibility/fault for not containing the dog(s)? The point that ebinsa and others have been trying to make is that there is no specific breed, only pit bull types made up of many breeds. The specific genetic breeding of the individual dogs and the means in which they are raised and for what purpose defines the ultimate personality of the dog. Just as all Muslims are being blamed for the actions of the radical Muslims and death for all is being called for, the same mental and emotional reality is being used against this type of dog. Many are bad, most are good (you never hear about them), yet all are being condemned. I don't consider that fair. I do appreciate you doing a bit of research, but please don't stop at only the bad and look for some of the good.

One month or so has passed and to date this is the 4th time I read about pit bulls attacking people seriously. In my first comment, I said that this breed of animals should not be permitted in the neighborhood communities by the City of San Antonio. What is the City waiting for? They are liable to kill someone, especially a child. Mark my words, city officials are going to have a serious injury on their hands for not taking this seriously. Just hope no one gets killed by these vicious animals.

I looked at monuntainmikes post and he is correct. did alittle research and data shows that pit bulls commit the vast majority of off-property attacks that result in death.

We listen to ebinsa. What she said is it is the owner's fault that the pit bull chose to attack.

ebinsa, you're trying to educate those that refuse to listen. Look back to the previous stories this month on this site and read the comments to understand. Once their mind is set, you can't change it. Thank you for the information you provided. And, best wishes to you and your girl!!!
