SAN ANTONIO -- Police arrested a woman they say stabbed her boyfriend during a fight north of Downtown Sunday.
Investigators said neighbors called 911 after the couple got into an argument at their apartment in the 500 block of West Euclid around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they found 32-year-old Edward Mendez suffering from cuts on his arms and what appeared to be stab wounds on his back. Mendez told police he had been stabbed by 36-year-old Eve Aguilar.
The officers said the couple's apartment was in disarray and there appeared to have been a struggle. A police report states Aguilar claimed Mendez had wrecked the apartment during a fit of anger. She also denied stabbing him and claimed he sustained his all of his injuries when he punched through a window with his fists and then tried to climb through it to get back into the apartment. Police said Aguilar eventually admitted she stabbed Mendez but claimed she had done so in self-defense after he hit her.
Mendez was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.
After questioning Aguilar and two other witnesses, Aguilar was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
