SEGUIN, Texas -- The nation's fastest highway already has a problem.

Police dashcams have captured images of the hogs running along the new stretch of State Highway 130, which runs from Seguin to just south of Austin. The toll road opened Wednesday and has a speed limit of 85 miles per hour.

Three cars have crashed into packs of wild hogs along the 41-mile stretch, according to NBC station in Austin. No one has been seriously hurt.

The feral hog population is a big problem in Caldwell county. Local officials are hoping the Texas Department of Public Safety will put up road signs, warning people about the animals crossing the road.

210bro, i would submit this is not about perry (ie the government making something safe. as the operator of the vehicle, thats your job, not the governments. if you don't feel your tires are safe then don't drive that fast. its called freedom. by allowing 85 the perry has allowed "you" to make the choice. if your only comfortable at 65 then do 65 (though by doing so you create a huge hazard for anyone else.) as i have not been on the new road i don't know whether there is a posted minimum or not. there is on the interstate system, but this does not come under the same jurisdiction as the interstate system. seeker "nice" very funny

Wild hogs run wild along side hog drivers on new road! Come on folks, everyone is acting like no other highways have game crossings and road kills. Nothing has changed. Faster speeds just serve to pulverized those Arkansas razorbacks. Plus, if the limit is 85, we all know that drivers will be going 95 at least.

I planned on never taking the toll road but if they let us shoot the wild pigs as we are driving then I'm there. That's worth the $12 toll one way. And for the dimwitted, this is a joke. I know it is not safe to shoot from a moving car on a busy highway...you might spill your beer.

Dixie, Secure1, and others. I was asked by founding father / LS to say he is taking some time away from woai per my request. I had to step away because of the blatant stupidity and childish actions of those creatures who cannot play by the same rules they set for others. Those who report, call names, denigrate, and spew hateful rhetoric at the same time doing those things and more themselves can take their toll on a person. Founding father is a good friend of mine and I hope he can keep his word and take a break from the idiocy. I got him involved in the woai posts and sometimes I am sorry I did.

i don't disgree with doc and 210...as much as i use the toll,i use it cautiously, especially at night. hogs or deer, that speed is going to do some damage! but, i do like the bypass of downtown Austin. it really doesn't take me any longer, and the roads are nicer. i wish SA had some nice toll roads to bypass all the people who'd rather sit in traffic. I actually do want to get home to my beautiful woman, unlike some of the others who's wives do nothing but nag them :)

Agree with 210bro, Especially if you happen to meet up with one of the 300-400 pound boars, it won't make much of a difference if you are doing 85 or 65. More than likely your vehicle will be totalled and if you're lucky, nobody killed. People will need to decide if driving that fast is really worth the risk, especially at night when the hogs and deer are moving around.

you people need to decide for yourselves what is "safe" and what isn't. this governor is a speed demon not concerned about safety. he's checking your wallets before tire speed ratings or airbags. as long as his buds make money off this stupid investment,he could care less if you're just another stain on the asphalt. drive defensively, cause ain't nobody concerned about you or your family's safety. all about the money.
