SAN ANTONIO -- A rash of recent residential fires in San Antonio has prompted the widow of a former state senator to speak out.

A Thanksgiving fire six years ago claimed the lives of State Senator Frank Madla, his mother-in-law, and his five-year old granddaughter Aleena. His widow Helen Madla is pleading with families to install smoke alarms. She talked with News 4 WOAI's Randy Escamilla.
