SAN ANTONIO -- As a parent, you'll do anything to keep your kids children, and protecting kids from a child predator is a top priority. A quick search online can show you where registered sex offenders live but now there's a new easy way to find out where they're working.

Family Watchdog maps out where registered sex offenders live and work, with a picture of the offender and information about the crime.  News 4 showed parents at Lion's Park how the website works.

Jennifer Quintela and Julian Nealy discovered a registered sex offender living near their northwest side home works at a family-friendly restaurant not far away.

"I didn't even know that was available for us to have and for us parents, that's a very good tool to use," Quintela said.

Roseann Jones discovered one offender living near her home is self-employed and another man is working at a car dealership.

"I, unfortunately, was raped as a child. And being raped as a child, it wasn't like, 'ha ha ha, I'm coming to get you,' or nothing like that. They progressively start with you. They tell you they're your friend and build a respect and build a trust factor," Jones said.  She said she is extremely protective of her children because of her past experiences.

Pastor Bob, I believe the good Lord gave us brains for a reason. And one of those reasons was to use common sense for the safety of ourselves and our families. If you don't care whether there are sex offenders around your children, you are perfectly free not to use the website.

If checking on an area for my own personal safety sends me hell bound then that's just fine. I don't mind the heat.

I feel that I must rebuke the woman below who freely admits that she is a secret spy, invading the lives of her neighbors for sport. You should be ashamed of yourself, woman. God doesn't want you sticking your nose into your neighbor's business and he will be very angry with you for this, you can be sure of it. His message to us, come down through the scriptures is, "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day"-Psalm 7:11. He doesn't want people like you to go snooping into their neighbor's affairs. I would urge you to repent your sins, which must be many, and come to Jesus before it's too late. It's that or Hell. Don't go there; it's too hot.

I've used this website for years looking up my neighborhoods out of curiousity. There are actually seven registrants that work at a restaurant near me. The only thing I wish they would add is more information regarding the case. Not necessarily go into details but state their age at offense as well as the victim's age. Most of them that are near me can be guessed that it was probably an older boyfriend with a minor girlfriend. I don't really consider those in the same category as rapists and true child molestors. Just a little more info would be great before people start forming vigilante groups and run people out of their neighborhoods.
