SAN ANTONIO - A water main break sent sent water shooting 50 feet up into the air Monday morning.

The water main broke around 3:20 a.m. Monday near Shaenfield and FM 1560 on the Far West Side. The location is a future Valero gas station.

SAWS crews responded but were unable to shut off the water because the break was on private property. They were eventually able to get in touch with the contractor, who then helped them locate the valve and shut off the water. The water had been shooting in the air for at least 3 hours.

Crews discovered a PVC pipe had ruptured underground.
