SAN ANTONIO -- There are more signs this will be the worst year for West Nile virus cases in the U.S.
The CDC Wednesday reported 118 deaths from the virus, significant jump from 87 last week. The number of cases also jumped from 1,900 last week to more than 2,600.
Two more people died of the virus in North Texas. An elderly Fort Worth man is the sixth West Nile-related death in Tarrant County this year, and a man in his 60's is the 15th such death in Dallas County.
Here in the San Antonio area, two more cases were confirmed Wednesday, bringing the number of cases to 17. Two of those cases have been deadly.
