SAN ANTONIO- A vigil was held Sunday for a little boy who died after being buried in sand. It happened Friday when seven year old Wyatt McDaniel and his younger brother were playing on their family horse farm.
That’s when something went terribly wrong and the younger brother alerted the family that Wyatt was trapped in a pile of sand.
While authorities are still sorting out those details, the vigil was about celebrating Wyatt’s life. Ribbons in his favorite color orange were tied all over Wilderness Oak Elementary where he attended school.
“The ribbons are hugs,” explained Shana Polo, a family friend. “The kids are putting them on the trees and every time they tie one it's another hug sent to Wyatt letting him know that he's missed and loved”.
Orange balloons were also released at the request of Wyatt’s little brother who wanted to send him a gift up in heaven.
