SAN ANTONIO - The famous "Victory or Death" letter left the Alamo Friday morning.

Thousands of people visited the Alamo over the past two weeks to see the letter written by Col. William B. Travis.

Gift shop sales and memberships helped raise close to $400,000 for the Alamo.  The Alamo relies on this funding almost exclusively to keep operating.

Saw it the first day it was available, well worth the membership to get to the front of the line. Incredible letter, too many hipsters have no idea what TEXIANS went through before they moved to Austin
