SAN ANTONIO -- VIA Metropolitan Transit Chief Keith Parker announced Tuesday he is resigning to take the top spot at Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transit Authority (MARTA) in Atlanta.
The MARTA Board announced their selection of Parker as the agency's new leader last week.
"This is a bittersweet choice for me," said Parker. "Although my family and I have grown very fond of VIA and San Antonio, MARTA is the right choice for us now. This move provides the opportunity to get closer to our parents, siblings and many other relatives who reside in the mid-Atlantic region, while leading one of the most dynamic transit agencies in the nation. San Antonio has proven to be a wonderful city for my wife and I, yet the sad reality is that my daughters (12 and 9) only see their grandparents and other family about once per year."
VIA's Deputy CEO and Chief of Business Support Services Jeff Arndt will serve as interim CEO.
