SAN ANTONIO -- On this Veteran's Day at the San Antonio National Cemetery, the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers marched in for a very special commemorative ceremony.

With their distinctive uniforms on, the buffalo soldiers paid tribute an important chapter in our nation's history.

Regiments made up of African American soldiers first formed in the 1860s which helped maintain order in the West and in South Texas.

this is an important and oft ignored piece of history. glad to know there was a ceremony. 1 of my fav books was historical/fiction by Elmer Kelton, "The Wolf and the Buffalo".
