SAN ANTONIO - University of Texas System regents on Thursday ordered their schools to offer students a four-year fixed-rate tuition option by fall 2014.
Each campus would be responsible for setting its tuition rate.
Two campuses currently offer fixed tuition.
UT-Dallas has had a mandatory four-year tuition plan since 2008.
UT-El Paso has had an optional plan since 2006.
Thursday's order would affect the other seven UT campuses.
