SAN ANTONIO – When the Roadrunners take the football field for the first time in 2011, that won’t be the only thing that’s new.

Because the University of Texas at San Antonio will be playing at the Alamodome, fans could also buy beer.

The contract between the operators of the stadium and university officials is not yet finalized, but one of the details in it is the beer sales. UTSA will not get any of the moneys from the concession stands and parking, but it does get a part of the ticket sales.

Kyle Stephens, UTSA Sports Information Director, says he doesn’t know if other universities which have beer at their venues have seen an up tick in receipts but admits “"It certainly would not hurt our attendance by having beer."

This isn’t the first time there has been brew at UTSA games. When the baseball team plays at the Nelson Wolff Stadium, fans can also quaff a cold one.

University officials expect the Alamodome contract to be signed in the next couple of months.
