SAN ANTONIO -- A man who investigators say eluded police and then escaped from officers while at a hospital was captured at a hotel in San Antonio Tuesday.
Jimmy Ray "Oklahoma" Owen was arrested Tuesday evening by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Owen, who investigators say is an active member of the Aryan Brotherhood gang, was wanted in Comal County in connection with an aggravated assault against a public servant.
Officers located Owen hiding out with an associate at a hotel room in the 900 block of Northeast Loop 410.
Investigators say Owen was driving a stolen pickup truck on Sunday when a Bulverde Police Officer tried to get him to pull over. The officer said Owen refused to stop, police say he ended up ramming to two patrol cars during a chase. The officers said Owen then lost control of the truck and crashed into another vehicle. Owen was ejected in the crash and was taken to a hospital. While being treated at the hospital, he escaped.
"It's only by the grace of God that no one was seriously injured due to this blatant disregard for human life," said Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas. "I am truly thankful and proud of our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, who came together to quickly take another bad guy off the streets."
